This session brings together recent advances in mechanistic–empirical analysis of rigid pavements, with particular attention to how modeling choices influence design decisions. Topics include software-based design comparisons (PMED, MnPAVE, Pitt Rigid), dynamic versus static load representation, alternative elastic joint formulations, and performance-driven optimization of concrete overlays. Rather than treating analysis tools as interchangeable, the papers emphasize why model selection and assumptions matter.
