Dr. Ajmera is currently an Assistant Professor in Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU). Prior to joining ISU in August 2021, Dr. Ajmera was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at North Dakota State University and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at California State University. Dr. Ajmera earned B.S. and B.A. degrees from California State University, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Ajmera has conducted research related to geotechnical engineering and has taught soil mechanics, surveying, engineering mathematics, geotechnical earthquake engineering, soil and site improvement, slope stability and retaining walls, numerical methods in geotechnical engineering and advanced soil testing courses. She has received several national and international awards for her research including, among others, the inaugural Oldrich Hungr Award from the International Consortium on Landslides, Thomas A. Middlebrooks Award from the Geo-Institute, Collingwood Prize from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement from ASCE.
