Dr. Ernest Berney has been a research civil engineer with the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory since 2000 and adjunct professor of civil engineering at Mississippi State University. His research background includes a broad study of unsaturated soil mechanics including numerical modeling, laboratory and field instrumentation, disturbed soil behavior and expedient field testing for contingency military operations. Current research interests include characterization of near surface soils for remote assessment operations and the use of photogrammetry and LiDAR for engineering analysis of road and airfield pavement condition.
