Dennis Asante is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geological Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, West Africa. His academic background and professional experiences, including his roles as an Assistant Lecturer, Materials Engineer, and Hydro-geophysical Engineer, have provided him with a strong foundation in geotechnical engineering, groundwater studies, and the application of geophysics to civil infrastructure challenges.
His research interests span geomaterial and pavement material characterization, geophysical techniques in geotechnical engineering, and groundwater potential and quality assessments. At Michigan State University, Asante is working on a research project to develop design and construction techniques that optimize lightweight fill materials for roadway and embankment applications. This work emphasizes mechanical and environmental performance, aiming to support sustainable infrastructure development and resilience in transportation engineering.
Asante has authored peer-reviewed publications on groundwater potential mapping and pollution vulnerability assessments and has presented at academic workshops and seminars. His career goal is to advance innovative, sustainable practices in geotechnical engineering that integrate material performance, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure resilience.
